The thing that was so remarkable about these two was their attitude! They really had the whole "experience it all, you only live once" philosophy down. They were fun, adventurous, and relaxed. And their wedding fit them so well. They had me and my assistant Katerina, laughing with them for the whole afternoon. And it was a beautiful afternoon. It was all held at Tara's parents home in Maple Ridge, and the details were impeccable. Their ceremony in the back garden was in a semi-circle and very inclusive, and afterwards we followed them on Peter's Victory motorcycle for some shots in the valley. Awesome to be along for the ride with you two!

Peter's badass face in the mirrors... wicked!

Below is probably the one mishap of their day. And I caught it!

Watch those elbows people.

It's feels like it's rare nowadays when mother nature pulls something out of her hat. But that's exactly what's happening right now in the Shuswaps of B.C. 15 million Sockeye salmon are making their way hundreds of miles from the ocean up small meandering river's and lakes to fulfill their life's cycle and build to a cruscendo; to mate and die. Not a bad way to go I'd say. And as they journey their colours go from a steely grey to a vibrant punchy red. It's an amazing spectacle and well worth the trip. Plus the last time the run-off was this large it was 1918!

And here's a Chinook Salmon (twice as large as Sockeyes) moving further upstream.

I love the part of my job that allows me to capture a friends wedding. Not only do I have the oppurtunity to be a part of the ceremony but I get the honour of getting to know them in a completely different light than anyone else.
On the other hand it can often feel more stressful with the added pressure of wanting to do "best" for your friends. Especially when it rains for most of the day!
Katie and Dave's wedding was a beautifully relaxed and low-key weekend affair at Bodega Ridge on Galiano Island. With family and friends in from all over the States and Canada everyone stayed on site or camped making it very social and fun. Most of the day people spent hiking and exploring the island, and when the ceremony came the rain held off right up until they signed their names. And I really feel that the rain that followed helped to solidify the relationships of all those that were there, making acquaintances friends and close friends loved ones.
Thanks Katie and Dave for having me there for your weekend and moving me from acquaintance to friends.

And here's proof of that rain!!
